West Piedmont District Meeting March 4, 2020

Dear West Piedmont District Garden Club Members:

The members of the Anderson Garden Club join me in extending a warm invitation to attend the Spring Meeting of the West Piedmont District. Our theme is “Gardening with Pride” and we have a great day planned for you!

It will be held on Wednesday, March 4th, at Tucker’s Restaurant in Anderson. Registration opens at 9:00 with hospitality, vendor shopping and meeting/greeting our GCSC President Trish Bender. She will be our honored guest as well as other GCSC officers and chairmen. In addition to giving awards, we have two fun and interesting speakers.

The program “Legacy Pride and A Walk in the Woods” will be given by Julie Vidotto who will share the story of Virginia Callaway, the founder of Callaway Gardens. Julie serves as director of Clemson University's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. She previously enjoyed a 20-year career in museum and public garden education program administration, with positions at Hillwood Museum in Washington, DC, the Chicago Botanic Garden, and the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville, NC.

For the design program, the speaker is our treasured friend and garden club member, Susan Temple, who will entertain us with “Botanical Beatrix”! (Beatrix is Latin for “she who brings happiness”.) Susan will have a new “twist” on floral design.

I hope that each garden club will have a carload or more of their members at our meeting! Remember, we're giving an award for the club who has the largest number (percentage) at the meeting! No application necessary -- award will be based on registration count.

The Call Letter and Registration Form which is attached has additional details of the meeting and for registering. If you have any questions, please let me know.

I look forward to celebrating you and your achievements!

Dee LeMay, West Piedmont District Director
