Spring Message

Dear Members,

Happy Spring! As I walked around the emerging garden this morning, I kept hearing a John Lennon song playing over and over in my head. “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.”  While none of us could have predicted the COVID-19 outbreak or the mandatory stay-at-home order, we can all be comforted by the hidden blessings it affords us: more time to garden, more time to share what we love, and more time to appreciate all that we have. Like a tree that has been severely pruned, we pause to register the shock and immediately begin re-growing toward the sun.

As gardeners, we are chock full of fortitude and resilience. We are grateful for the thunder storm and have full faith in the sunshine that will follow. We trust that when we plant seeds they will grow. We have hope that if something fails, something else will succeed. Why? Because, as gardeners, we are connected to the rhythm of life itself and continually marvel at the glory of creation.  We know we are not in control of everything but trust that we have our part to play in the co-creation process.

It is this fundamental awareness and awe that keeps us forging ahead and acting on our belief in the power of goodness. Our federation family is comprised of some of the most faithful, kind, and creative people in South Carolina and together we are indeed a force for good.

Although we cannot connect in person, we remain the hub of the garden club wheel for all of our members across South Carolina, through email, Facebook, Instagram, our Website, and our monthly Scoop newsletter, GCSC will continue to educate, connect and celebrate your amazing achievements and are here to help you navigate all the tools you need to succeed.

With love, faith, hope and fortitude, I wish you a very happy spring and thank you for the many blessings you bring to South Carolina!
